ABOUT ABOUT

The Graduate Program in Molecular & Cellular Biosciences (PMCB) is delighted to announce that Gary Ward, PhD has accepted our invitation to present on Monday, December 17 at the Combined Basic Science Research Seminar Series. For more information about Dr. Ward and his talk, please see below:

Gary received his Ph.D. from UC San Diego, where he studied the cell biology of fertilization with Dr. Victor Vacquier. He did his postdoctoral training with Dr. Marc Kirschner at The UC San Francisco, studying the biochemistry of cell cycle control. He then spent 6 years as a Senior Staff Fellow in the Laboratory of Parasitic Diseases at the NIH, before moving to the University of Vermont College of Medicine where he is currently Professor of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics. Gary’s lab studies the cellular and molecular biology of apicomplexan parasites. Gary also has a strong interest in scientific communication and publication practices. He chaired the NIH’s PubMed Central National Advisory Committee from 2009-2011 and is currently Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Public Library of Science (PLOS).
